apple picking

On Sunday afternoon we bundled up and headed to the apple orchard. We met with some new friends and spent the afternoon walking around, showing and telling them about apples and Fall and Halloween (the new friends are from China and it will be the first American Fall for the girl), and just having a good time in general.

Emerson bonded with my new friend, Joy, and cuddled with her pretty much the entire afternoon. I'm not sure who loved it more, her or him. He was so cozy and she just kept smiling and loving on him.

Walking in the apple orchard we not only picked a bunch of apples, we also saw a lot of wasted apples. The whole time I kept thinking about all of the wonderful and many things that could have been done with these fallen apples. So wasteful. So sad.

Poor apples. I would have made you into something delicious. Or just enjoyed you as you were.

We found Emerson an Emerson sized apple. It made his day.

Oh, how he loved that apple.

He loved it so much he held onto it nearly the entire afternoon. Clutched it so tight in his tiny little hands. Even when he fell asleep.

We're just a regular apple picking family. Well, for an afternoon at least.

Looks like it was a fabulous afternoon! I'm bummed about those apples on the ground too! Think how many apple pies/jars of apple sauce/apple butter/whatever else they could have made!
