the things we carry : a toddler's diaper bag

The things I carry around in Emerson's diaper bag these days have changed from what they used to be when he was a wee baby. I always keep a bag packed for him, ready to go on short notice, but usually I only take it with us if we are going to church, out to eat, or on some other 'big' outing. For our trips to the store and such I just use my purse, and make sure to keep it stocked with a few diapers, a small pack of wipes, a book or two, a toy, and some snacks. I have a big enough purse to accommodate too many things, so it's easy to do, but it also causes a problem. I should work on that.

Emerson's bag has a tad bit more:

- diapers, wipes, diaper cream, and little diaper bags [so as not to stink up someone's house if we are visiting family or friends], and a receiving blanket to change him on.

- hand sanitizer [because, well ... you never know what their little hands will touch or for diaper changes], nose wipes, stain remover wipes [in case blueberries are smashed all over the little one's shirt], sanitizing wipes [apparently I picked up a few from Chick-fil-a on our last visit. ... you never know when you'll need some :].

- snacks, [not pictured] sippy cup [we always have water with us], table topper mats for when we eat out, [not pictured] bibs, fork, spoon.

- little books and a toy or two.

- wet bag [you just never know what's going to happen...], change of clothes because again, you never know when your munchkin will smear guacamole all over themselves. And of course the one time you leave it out, is the one time you will really need it. So it always stays in the bag.

Goodness, that kind of sounds like a lot. Granted, we don't use all of the things packed in the bag each time we go out; I just like to be prepared, because really, you never know what you'll need or what might happen. All of those things fit nicely into his little backpack.
