sunday snow

This winter has been much milder than last winter, though it has still been cold! Cold with very little snow. I don't mind the winter as long as there is some snow. I feel like if the sun is peeking out from behind the clouds, I should be able to go outside for a walk or something. Give me sunshine and warm days or give me cold snowy days.

We finally got the snow I had been wishing for [though if the weather had turned to a nice Spring day I would have been thrilled]. It started snowing Saturday night and didn't stop until late Sunday afternoon.

We had gotten ready to go to church on Sunday and as we were pulling out of the neighborhood we saw that the road we take to get to church was blocked off and there was a firetruck sitting there. We has heard lots of sirens that morning and figured the roads were just bad and there were lots of people needing help. We don't have four wheel drive so when we turned the street to go a different way to church we debated going out or staying in [aka: not driving anywhere]. The roads were bad so we made a turn and drove back into our neighborhood.

Not making it to church was disappointing, we haven't been for a few weeks now for various reasons and we both missed it and wanted to go. However, we also wanted to be safe. So we stayed home.

In order to add a little bit of fun to our day we decided to go sledding. There is a park in our neighborhood and in it a tiny bump of a hill. But the perfect size for Emerson. So we bundled up and headed to the park.

We trudged through the snow and playground covered in white fluff until we finally reached the "hill" at the back of the park. We had it all to ourselves.

It was so much fun spending the morning outside in the snow. Emerson had fun in the snow for the most part and walked pretty well in it. When he fell down occasionally he would say, "Oh no. Oh no Oh no!" Until one of us picked him back up. Then he was happy to tromp through the snow some more.

After a little bit of sledding we walked back through the playground and stopped to go down the slide, because who says you can't slide when it's covered in snow?

Once we got home we debated making a snowman, but decided not to because Emerson's hat had come off and he wasn't ready to put it back on. Maybe next time....

Instead we made some hot chocolate and sipped it while warming up our noses and toes.

It was a cozy little morning and the perfect way to start February.

Oh I just love all the pictures! What a cutie in the snow! We have had such a mild winter, and it is depressing. I love the snow and keep hoping for more!

So much fun! Love the pictures!

Now, that we've had a measurable amount of snow, it can melt. :)

Love these pictures. He is seriously adorable. Yeesh. And don't you agree that sometimes we meet God in these unexpected days more than we would have in the church pew? [Our church is doing a series about childlike wonder and learning to BEHOLD God again… you were doing that here :)]
