our family Christmas

The other day I shared that we spent the two weeks leading up to Christmas with Landon's family in Kentucky. It was such a sweet and special time, but of course, all good things must come to an end. On Saturday morning we started packing up and getting ready to head back home. We stayed and visited with Landon's family until after the UK game and then we said our good-byes and headed home.

We made pretty good time on our way home and the boys both slept for most of the trip. We managed to make our trip with only one stop for dinner, and then we were on our way home again. It was so good to get back home after being gone for so long. We turned on the tree lights and let it twinkle and glow as we unpacked and got the boys ready for bed. I worked on unpacking as much as I could that evening and then put a few goodies in the boy's stockings for them to open in the morning.

The next morning we took our time getting up [not Emerson, as he woke up in the wee hours of the morning]. Once we were awake and ready we went downstairs and told Emerson he had more Christmas gifts to open. He was so excited and ready to open whatever he could get his little paws on.

Sunday morning we enjoyed opening our gifts to and from each other and the we put on a movie while I fixed gingerbread pancakes and bacon for breakfast. It was the perfect little Christmas for our little family of four!

The rest of the day we relaxed, cleaned up a little bit, did some laundry, unpacked the rest of our things, took some naps, and just enjoyed being home together.

And now we are celebrating a New Year! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and are saying a happy hello to the New Year!
